Barney Mecom, following receipt of his J.D. from the West Virginia University College of Law entered private practice in West Virginia focusing on insurance defense litigation, education law, healthcare compliance, creditor rights, and real property litigation. Barney later served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable James A. Matish, of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Clarksburg, West Virginia. He returned to private practice with Pullin, Fowler, Flanagan, Brown, and Poe, PLLC in 2008 and continued to practice until his family relocated to Christiansburg, Virginia in 2010.
Barney Mecom was admitted to practice in Virginia in 2012 and recently joined Two Rivers Law Group as an associate in its Christiansburg, Virginia office.
Barney Mecom, a native of Pensacola and Neptune Beach, Florida, attended Appalachian State University before transferring to the University of North Florida where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy.
Before law school, Barney founded Southern Marine Underwriters, Inc., a boutique marine insurance agency located in Jacksonville, Florida. He also worked as a convention planner for Festivities Publications.
